Ghodoussi sends 4-word tweet about announcement Newcastle fans will love

What a stellar job Eddie Howe has done at Newcastle United.

The former Bournemouth manager took over from axed Steve Bruce at St James’s Park during the first half of the campaign.

Newcastle had gone their first 14 Premier League games without a victory this season.

And this was a feat that no team who in the competition’s history had previously recovered from without being relegated into the Championship.

But Howe won the Magpies’ 15th game of the season – a 1-0 victory over Burnley on Tyneside – and things have been a lot less complicated from there.

Fast forward to now and Newcastle could even finish in the top half of the Premier League.

It’s unlikely, but possible and that fact alone illustrates what a magnificent job Howe has done in the North East.

In fact, the Premier League announced today that the 44-year-old has been nominated for Manger of the Season, along with Pep Guardiola, Jurgen Klopp, Patrick Vieira, and Thomas Frank.

And honestly, it’s a deserved nomination because during the second half of the campaign, Newcastle have been one of the division’s best teams, losing five times with Chelsea, Spurs, Manchester City and Liverpool among those to beat them this year.

Here’s how Mehrdad Ghodoussi reacted on Twitter to the announcement:

No doubt Newcastle fans will love to see their manager recognised, whether he wins or not.

It’s undeniable that the Magpies’ January spending helped their Premier League survival bid in a major way, with Bruno Guimaraes the pick of the window for any club.

But still, Bruno hasn’t hit form until recently, having struggled to make his full debut for a while, and Kieran Trippier got injured within weeks of arriving in the North East.

For the most part, it’s been Howe and the existing players who deserve the most credit and that, again, stems back to the manager.
