Aston Villa could soon face a nightmarish scenario involving Jack Grealish – Our View

Back in August, Jack Grealish angered the Aston Villa supporters when he completed a £100m move to fellow Premier League side Manchester City.

The Villa Park faithful watched their academy graduate, captain, talisman, and boyhood Aston Villa supporter walk away from them, just 12 months on from penning a five-year contract.

Now, those same supporters might have to witness something they may find sickening when Grealish faces his beloved Villans on Sunday 22nd May.

What’s the story?

Well, if Manchester City beat West Ham on Sunday, and Liverpool drop points to Southampton on Tuesday night, the Citizens will become Premier League champions.

As you may know, if the Premier League champions are confirmed before the final game of the season, then any remaining opponents they face must give them a guard of honour before kick-off.

That means, when Manchester City take on the Villans on Sunday 22nd May, the Aston Villa players might have to give Grealish a guard of honour.

After the manner of his departure, which left the fanbase feeling all types of emotion from anger to sadness, that will be a nightmarish scenario for some.

For others, they will be pleased to reunite with one of their own as a Premier League champion – after all, the fanbase is a split one when it comes to this topic.

Aston Villa wasted the Jack Grealish money

At this point of the season, it seems fair to say that Dean Smith spent the money received from Grealish’s sale poorly.

Aston Villa signed Danny Ings for £30m, a man who has scored just seven goals in 28 appearances this season.

Emiliano Buendia was also signed for £33m, but has scored three goals in 36 games this term.

The other expensive addition in Leon Bailey – who the Villans again paid £30m for – has netted just one goal so far this season.

Clearly, the trio haven’t been good enough, and those on the recruitment team at Villa Park will have to work a bit harder this summer.

If they don’t, Steven Gerrard will be far from happy.
