Steven Gerrard reacts to if he will do Liverpool a favour against Man City

Steven Gerrard has made it clear that Aston Villa will ‘give everything’ against Manchester City, after he was asked if he could possibly give Liverpool a favour in the Premier League title race.

Liverpool beat Aston Villa 2-1 on Tuesday night to move level with Manchester City in the Premier League table.

Pep Guardiola’s side, who face Wolves on Wednesday night, are sitting top on goal difference and they can put that three-point gap between them and their rivals again with all three points at Molineux.

On the final day of the Premier League season, Villa will travel to the Etihad hoping to spoil their Premier League party.

After Villa’s defeat yesterday, Gerrard was asked on Sky Sports about possibly doing Liverpool a favour in the title race.

“Listen, we will wait and see what situation we are in come the end of the season,” said Gerrard.

“We have a purpose to try and finish as high as we can in this league. We want to finish in the top ten to put ourselves in a place. It’s got to be about us.

“We have to put a positive performance against Palace, then take that into Burnley and hope we can put ourselves in a good place going into Man City.

“One thing is for sure, we will go for the next three games, we will give everything we can.”

Will Gerrard do Liverpool a favour in Premier League title race?

It would be something if Villa play a part in Liverpool winning the Premier League title on the final day of the season.

Danny Ings and Philippe Coutinho are two former Liverpool players that will be expected to start at the Etihad.

From an attacking perspective, there’s no doubt that Villa can cause Man City problems.

But as Liverpool proved at Villa Park last night, their defence is all over the place and whilst the Midlands side might score, they might also end up shipping three or four at the other end.
